What would Jesus Do? (WWJD)
In this Easter/Passover season, I thought it would be a good time to refresh some memories for those who so passionately believe in Jesus (Yeshua). Now more than ever, do we need to be reminded of who he was historically and what he actually preached.*
Whether you believe Jesus was already here on Earth at some point or not, whether you believe he existed and resurrected or not; whether you believe he is truly the Son of G-d or not; whether you believe the perspective that he was an Ascended Master or not, the main point is that he was indeed a historical figure, who exemplified *LOVE, KINDNESS and COMPASSION.
So today, in 2025, I share this so that it can be shared as a reminder of, What Would Jesus Do (WWJD?) if he lived in today’s society, especially when you are out and about dealing with other people.
To those celebrating Easter, here is a reminder of why you do:
Jesus of Nazareth, often referred to as Jesus Christ, was born around 4 BCE in Bethlehem, traditionally celebrated on December 25th. The Lat Supper, which was the meal right before Jesus’ death with his disciples, is said to have taken place during Passover celebration. Easter is the day that Christians celebrate the belief that Jesus rose from the dead three days after his crucifixion, an event celebrated as Easter Sunday.
Jesus was a Jewish carpenter, preacher and religious leader, who lived in the 1st century CE in the region now known as Israel and Palestine. He is the central figure of Christianity, one of the world’s largest religions, but he is also respected in other faiths, including Islam.
HERE IS THE REMINDER PART:
Jesus is often described as incredibly KIND and EMPATHETIC. He showed deep COMPASSION for the marginalized, including the poor, sinners, lepers, and women, who were often sidelined in society. This is something that many people have forgotten as they have become less and less kind to each other and less tolerant of others who are different than them.
BEST PART:
He listened to people, cared for their needs, and often healed those who were suffering.
Many of his teachings were conveyed through parables—simple stories with moral or spiritual lessons. These parables emphasized LOVE, HUMILITY, and FORGIVENESS.
One of his central messages was the importance of LOVE—love for God and LOVE FOR ONE’s NEIGHBOR. He taught about forgiveness, urging people to forgive others as they wish to be forgiven.
Jesus challenged social norms and spoke out against injustices. He advocated for the poor and critiqued the religious authorities of his time for their hypocrisy.
Jesus is said to have performed numerous miracles, including healing the sick, restoring sight to the blind, calming storms, and even raising the dead. These acts demonstrated his compassion and authority, further inspiring his followers and attracting attention.
In some spiritual and metaphysical circles, Jesus is viewed as an “ascended master,” a term used to describe enlightened beings who have transcended the limitations of the physical world and continue to guide humanity.
Personally, I believe that we need to attain “christ consciousness.” I do not believe that Jesus wanted followers, he intended to create leaders, equals. He did not intend to create Christians per se, but for people to raise their “christ consciousness.” When Jesus said, “I am the Way,” he meant be this way – christ-like.
It is important to understand how powerfully your beliefs create your reality.
While this concept is not universally accepted within traditional Christianity, many who follow mystical or new-age beliefs regard Jesus as a profound spiritual teacher. (My personal belief.)
Jesus’s teachings have had a lasting impact on human history, influencing ethics, morality, and law across cultures. His life and message continue to inspire millions of people around the world, promoting principles of love, compassion, and social justice.
In summary, Jesus is viewed as a kind, empathetic, and transformative figure who taught about love, forgiveness, and the importance of caring for others. His teachings and actions resonate deeply, making him a central figure in spirituality and ethics, beloved by many across different cultures and religions.
So when you are out and about doing and saying things in Jesus’s name, ask yourself…WWJD?
