BECOMING THE BEST VERSION OF YOURSELF: The Real Truth about Habit Building, Alignment, and Letting Go of Who You Used to be

How to Break Old Patterns, Build New Habits, and Transform Your Health and Mindset from the Inside Out

Ever feel like you’ve outgrown your old life, but you’re not sure who you are becoming next? We all talk about becoming “the best version” of ourselves, but what does that really mean? Is it about doing more? Hustling harder? Hitting every goal on the vision board? Not quite. Sometimes, it’s just about slowing down long enough to realize the version of you that got here might not be the one that’s meant to take you further.

Everything that you have been through, good and bad, has made you who you are today and brought you to this moment in time. The key is to love yourself no matter what version of you is present now. You are a work in progress. We all are. Sometimes we put unrealistic expectations on ourselves, and this leads to disappointment, but the positive news is that you can break old patterns that keep holding you back from where you want to be in life.

Let Go of the Life You’ve Outgrown

Authenticity is more important than expectation. There comes a point where you have to release the version of yourself that no longer fits the habits, the patterns, and even the people that belonged to an older chapter. The version of you now is remembering the one that use to be and struggling to be the one you want to be. Does that make sense?

It’s okay to outgrow your past self. In fact, it’s healthy. The real growth begins when you stop forcing yourself into old molds, old habits and start creating space for who you’re becoming, no matter how old you are. It is never too late to start a new chapter or set new goals. It is also okay to bring the best parts of your old self on the journey to your new self or shed all those layers altogether if need be. Whatever works for you. The important thing to remember is that YOU hold the POWER to make the choices of where you want to go and who you want to become. We are ever changing beings.

It is also vital to understand that when you are not happy physically, (as in not feeling well,) it affects your emotional and mental wellbeing.

One Day at a Time: Progress, Not Perfection

Transformation doesn’t happen in a single “aha” moment. It takes time and patience. Sometimes the number of 21 days gets tossed around a lot, because it takes about that much time to build a habit. Research shows it actually takes closer to two months (and sometimes longer) to form a routine that truly stick.

So instead of chasing a timeline, focus on consistency. Start writing down the goals you want to achieve and/or the habits you want to change or establish. The first few weeks are powerful because they build momentum, but what really matters is how you keep showing up once the early motivation fades.

Every day is a chance to get closer to the life that actually fits you now. Not the one you were told to want, but the one that feels aligned for YOU! You must do what makes you happy and healthy!

Ask yourself:
✨ What’s one thing I can do today that supports the version of me I’m becoming?
✨ What can I release that’s been keeping me stuck in yesterday’s story?

If you need some guidelines to make your transformation process a little more visual and do-able, here are two options you can start with:

21/90 rule:

This popular guideline suggests it takes 21 days for a habit and 90 days for it to become a permanent part of a routine.

3-3-3 rule:
This rule suggests three days, three weeks, and three months. The first three days are often the hardest, but it’s a simplified guideline and not a precise measure.

The Inner Alchemy: Health, Mindset & Energy

True personal growth is a form of alchemy, transforming your inner world so it reflects outward abundance. When your body, mind, and spirit are in sync, everything else starts to flow. We all know that when you feel well, you live well. Whether you are single, have a spouse/partner or you are a parent, the best way to give fully of yourself and be the best version of yourself is when you are feeling good.

Life is a cycle, which can go either way. When you don’t feel well or you feel bad about yourself (physically or emotionally,) everything and everyone around you is affected as a result. Conversely, if you are feeling good, looking good and feeling that high vibin’ energy, that too is contagious and affects those around you, but more importantly, it affects your own self-worth.

Health, (physical and mental,) truly is the greatest wealth.

💚 Health becomes your foundation: you nourish yourself from the inside out.
🧠 Mindset becomes your compass: guiding you through fear and self-doubt.
🌟 Energy becomes your currency: the vibration that attracts opportunities and relationships aligned with your purpose.

This isn’t about chasing perfection; it’s about alignment. When your habits, values, and energy all work together, you start to radiate from within and that light naturally attracts more balance, clarity, and prosperity into your life.

We have to learn to gently detox from bad habits, bad relationships, bad food habits, and from the bad thoughts that creep into our mind when we are feeling at our lowest. When we detox from the inside out, it helps our bodies heal and get back into alignment. So, I encourage you to start today with your gentle detox to get yourself back on track!

Healthy and happy means you are glowing from the inside out.

You Already Have the Power

Becoming your best self isn’t about reinventing who you are, it’s about remembering who you’ve always been, before life got crazy (whether by choice or by chance,) the conditioning of who we were taught to be, and the never-ending self-doubt that often keeps us stuck. When we start to doubt our ability to grow and get better, is when the red flags start to pop up. We have to learn the difference between what we want and don’t want and what no longer serves us and to be patient with ourselves and where we are at emotionally and physically speaking.

You have to learn to focus on what truly makes you happy and what your priorities are now.

Too many times, we find ourselves trapped in a version of ourselves that we use to be, and as wonderful as that version may (or may not have been,) it is not relevant to this time and place. Used to be’s don’t count anymore. The only thing that really matters is the here and now. So, give yourself permission to evolve, to heal, to renew, to rise up again and especially give yourself the time and grace to get there.

One day at a time. One aligned choice at a time.

You already have the power to be happy (and healthy.) The rest is just remembering, deciding and living like it’s true.

The best version of you doesn’t appear overnight. It is created in small, intentional steps, for example:
🌿 Eating for vitality.
💫 Thinking with awareness.
🔥 Moving with purpose.
💖 Acting from integrity.

💫 Your Turn

Take a moment today to think about your own transformation.
What part of yourself are you ready to release and what version of you is waiting to emerge?

Share your thoughts in the comments or journal it out privately. You don’t need a whole notebook or actual journal. You can use something like the daily journal worksheet below. The key is to start. Start with reflecting upon the things you are grateful for and what you have accomplished in a day. Be real and be authentic in your feelings and responses, so you can analyze where you are and where you want to be.

The moment you claim it; you start living it. 🌿
